MONTREAL, Nov. 5, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The LÉGER Foundation launches its campaign "Do good, feel good. Make a donation.", its new advertising campaign aimed at making its mission and social action better known and inviting the population to join its fight for the respect of human dignity in Quebec and throughout the world. This campaign will unfold over the next few months to include several communication media throughout the province.
With the support of well-informed spokespersons who are highly motivated by the cause, the LÉGER Foundation will be present on radio and television, in the print media and on billboards along Quebec roads.
Marie Denise Pelletier, spokesperson for LÉGER's international programs since 2007, has taken part in several missions of the Foundation to get to know local community partners and populations that the LÉGER Foundation is helping in Asia, Africa and Latin America. "During my missions, I have met men, women and children fiercely determined to change their lives. I have helped them with their daily tasks, shared their hard work, often in difficult conditions. But always, these people were fuelled by a great joy and a lot of resilience. As spokesperson, this is what my role, telling their story to people in Quebec, is all about. I have seen and understood how the support the LÉGER Foundation provides to partner organizations makes all the difference in the world for thousands of people", explains Ms. Pelletier.
For his part, Jean-Pierre Coallier, spokesperson for the LÉGER Foundation in Quebec, likes to tell this story. "I met Cardinal Léger when I was hosting 'Le chapelet en famille', a radio prayer show popular in the 50s. Moved by the wisdom and energy of the Cardinal, who dedicated his life to help vulnerable and marginalized populations in Québec and throughout the world, I have remained faithful to him and to his work. In 1985, and for the ten years that I hosted 'Ad Lib' on television, each year we would auction off all of the gifts I was receiving back then from guests on my show, the studio audience and viewers to benefit the Cardinal. I remember that each time His Eminence visited the studio, he would give us the same message: 'Spread joy and the world will be a better place!' I took this message and made it my motto. This man has made an unforgettable impression on me. Helping others, spreading joy, making the world a better place."
When choosing to donate either here or in the poorest corners of the Earth, the answer is clear: both here and elsewhere in the world, the LÉGER Foundation supports innovative and mobilizing community initiatives for the well-being of vulnerable and marginalized people. After providing technical and financial support to direct interventions for the past 65 years, the LÉGER Foundation sees that the needs have never stopped growing. Therefore, we must aim to support the most innovative interventions in order to strengthen the impact of each donation and make it go further.
Norman MacIsaac, the LÉGER Foundation's Executive Director, explains that: "We can get the impression that eradicating poverty is mission impossible, but when we join the Foundation's movement for human dignity, we realize that we can make a difference, one donation, one action at a time. When we donate to LÉGER, we put our money where our mouth is, providing the most vulnerable and marginalized people with the tools they need to regain control of their lives. Do good, feel good. Make a donation!"
