TORONTO, Jan. 24, 2018 /CNW/ - Manulife Investments today announced that Mikhail Zverev, the co-portfolio manager of the Manulife Global Equity Unconstrained Fund and the Manulife Global Equity Unconstrained Class, has decided to leave Aberdeen Standard Investments in the second quarter of 2018. Until then, Mikhail will continue to manage the portfolio with co-portfolio manager Jaime Ramos Martin to ensure a smooth transition. After the departure of Mikhail, Jaime will take over as lead portfolio manager of the funds. This coincides with announcements that Stephen Docherty, formerly of Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (AAM), has been appointed Head of Global Equities, and Dominic Byrne, formerly of Standard Life PLC (SL), has been named Deputy Head of Global Equities.
Jaime Ramos Martin has been co-portfolio manager of the Manulife Global Equity Unconstrained Fund and the Manulife Global Equity Unconstrained Class since December 2016 and follows a team-based approach within Aberdeen Standard Investments' Global Equity Team. While providing clear accountability for client portfolios they operate a team-based approach with each member of the Global Equity Team fully contributing to their investment insights.
Stephen and Dominic will focus on the integration of the two former firms' expertise in global equities with the Focus on Change investment philosophy, investment process and portfolio construction to be maintained as part of this. The Global Equity Team is expected to be fully integrated early in the second quarter of 2018. Manulife Investments will work closely with Aberdeen Standard Investments and will provide further information as it becomes available.
