-- All-New CX-5 and SKYACTIV Technology Play Important Roles in Mazda Sales -
TORONTO, May 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada today announced sales for April 2012. A total of 7,049 vehicles were sold, bringing the year to date total to 23,290. While April sales were down 7% from 2011, year to date sales continue to be positive, showing a 10% growth through the first four months of 2012.
Sales were led by the Mazda3 compact sedan and hatchback, and the all-new Mazda CX-5, which are both available with SKYACTIV Technology, and offer incredible fuel economy without sacrificing performance and Mazda's fun-to-drive characteristics.
"The CX-5 is an important vehicle for Mazda, not only because it allows consumers to choose a no-compromise crossover, but it also represents the first step towards our initiative to bring the full suite of SKYACTIV Technology to every vehicle we build," said Don Romano, President, Mazda Canada. "The awards that keep rolling in for the CX-5 prove that we have the vehicle that consumers today are looking for."
Vehicles equipped with SKYACTIV Technology made up 49% of total Mazda sales in April, proving further that this new technology is in high demand by consumers. The Mazda3 nameplate once again led all Mazda sales with 3,841 units. Strong sales continued for the new CX-5 crossover, which is only available with the award-winning 2.0L SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine, selling 1,515 units in April. With 155 horsepower, the CX-5 offers consumers the best highway fuel economy of any SUV sold in Canada, including hybrids.
