CORNWALL, ON, March 6, 2017 /CNW/ - From March 6 to 9, 2017, the Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) along with its Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) partners will be conducting high visibility patrols to promote border security. The goal of this operation is to highlight the importance of border security, to seek input from area residents and to answer any questions they may have.
"Our engagement with the communities we serve has assisted us with securing our borders," stated Insp. Steve Ethier, officer in charge of the CRTF. "Through collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, the public can continue to assist us in deterring organized crime from establishing itself within our neighbourhoods thereby ensuring safer communities and a more secure border. If you see or hear something you would consider suspicious, report it!"
"Border security involves our partners (RCMP and CBSA) and the residents of our communities," stated Insp. Mike Mulhearn, officer in charge of the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SDG) OPP Detachment.
If you have any information regarding criminal activity in your area, please contact your local police as soon as possible so they can take action. The CRTF can be reached at 1-613-937-2800 or 1-800-387-0020.
