Media advisory - Minister of Status of Women Canada to speak at national women's symposium tonight in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG, Feb. 29, 2016 /CNW/ - The Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) and The Manitoba Teachers' Society (MTS) are pleased to announce the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Status of Women Canada will speak this evening at the CTF/MTS Women's Symposium in Winnipeg.

The Minister's remarks are scheduled for 7 p.m., at the Victoria Inn Hotel where symposium participants from across Canada are gathered to celebrate the centennial of the right to vote first obtained by women in Canada.

About the CTF Women's Symposium

From Feb. 28 to March 1, about 100 participants from all corners of the country representing teacher organizations, educators, labour, Indigenous women and women's organizations will gather in Winnipeg to explore social justice education at the heart of women's rights. The CTF is extremely grateful to the MTS for hosting the national event in Winnipeg and to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights for developing and presenting a program on women's rights in Canada.
