TORONTO, Dec. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - To commemorate the 66th anniversary of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the Ontario Human Rights Commission will host a webinar on preventing sexual harassment at work. The webinar will provide an overview of what sexual harassment is, how employers can prevent it, and what to do when it happens.
The UDHR, proclaimed on December 10, 1948, set out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be protected across the world. This document has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most translated document ever. It is available in more than 430 languages, ranging from Zulu to sign language.
No matter what language they appear in, both the UDHR and Ontario's Human Rights Code include protections based on sex. Together, they set the foundation for a simple yet important message for employers in Ontario today: sexual harassment is against the law.
Limited spaces are still available for webinars in English and French. To register, go to www.ohrc.on.ca. The webinars will also be posted online the day after the live session.
