WHO: | Dave Toycen, president of World Vision Canada, returned from Bangladesh on April 16 and will talk about his visit to the Rana Plaza site, and the children he met who are doing dirty, dangerous and degrading work in the country's factories and markets. Mr. Toycen will highlight the responsibility of Canadian retailers to operate ethically in countries like Bangladesh. |
Wendy Therrien, director of policy, World Vision Canada, will talk about her April 2014 trip to Albania where she met children working in the shoe, garment and mining industries. She will also speak about the role of the Canadian government in improving working conditions. Interviews with Wendy are available in French and English. | |
Cheryl Hotchkiss, senior campaign manager, World Vision Canada, will talk about how Canadians can be ethical consumers. She will share her experiences in Central America where she met children who work in the seafood, coffee and sugar industries. She'll also talk about the importance of supply-chain transparency so that Canadian consumers can make educated choices. | |
