Media Advisory - PHOTO AND INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES - News Conference - OPP to announce launch of brief mental health screener for frontline officers Français
ORILLIA, ON, May 7, 2014 /CNW/ - Members of the media are invited to join the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) tomorrow as they announce the roll-out of a science-based, standardized mental health screening form which will be used by frontline OPP officers across Ontario.
The BMHS is based on the interRAI Mental Health Assessment System, a comprehensive standardized instrument mandated in 2005 by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for use with all patients admitted to an Ontario hospital for inpatient psychiatric care. The BMHS was developed collaboratively with interRAI and evaluated through a pilot project.
Commissioner J.V.N. (Vince) Hawkes will be joined by other subject matter experts who will be available for one-on-one interviews following the formal media conference. For members of the media unable to attend in person, requests for phone interviews with Commissioner Hawkes can be arranged in advance via the media contact below.
