Media Advisory - Photo and Interview Opportunities - News Conference - OPP to make it tougher for Ontario motorists to drive while under suspension Français
ORILLIA, ON, Dec. 10, 2013 /CNW/ - Members of the media are invited to join the OPP tomorrow as they announce how they will use improved new technology to deal with suspended drivers who continue to drive illegally.
An estimated 250,000 driver's licence suspensions are issued every year in Ontario and research suggests that thousands of people continue to drive while under suspension.
The OPP is the first police service in Ontario to use these new enforcement technologies to identify and remove suspended drivers from our roads. Following the conference, the OPP will provide a short video presentation of an OPP officer using this innovative enforcement tool to remove a suspended driver from a highway.
One-on-one interviews will be conducted following the formal media conference. B-Roll will be available for electronic media.
