Media Advisory - RCMP, OPP, Owen Sound Police and Cape Croker First Nation Police to Conduct Joint Marine Safety and Enforcement at Owen Sound Français
OWEN SOUND, ON, Aug. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Kitchener and Sarnia Detachments, in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Grey County and South Bruce Detachments, Owen Sound Police Services and Cape Croker First Nation Police will be conducting a joint two day marine safety and enforcement blitz in the area of the Owen Sound Harbour. On August 3, 2012 there will be a static display promoting marine safety and border security followed by a Joint Forces marine enforcement blitz on August 4, 2012.
The public and the media are invited to the Owen Sound Harbour to meet members of these four police services and from the Ministry of Natural Resources and to view the boats, police vehicles and helicopter used by police in the execution of their duties. On sight for public viewing will be:
$ 25 foot Whaler used by the Grey County OPP Marine Enforcement Unit
$ 32 foot Hyke used by the South Bruce OPP Marine Enforcement Unit
$ 23 foot Black Bill vessel used by the Cape Croker First Nation Police
$ 8.5 meter Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat used by the Sarnia RCMP, Border Integrity Team
$ 9.5 meter Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat used by the RCMP Marine Security Enforcement Unit
$ RCMP helicopter
$ Police vehicles including a vintage 1956 vehicle, motorcycle and all-terrain vehicles.
