OTTAWA, June 7, 2016 /CNW/ - World Wildlife Fund Canada (WWF-Canada) is pleased to welcome the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, and Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, Dominic LeBlanc, at Canada's Ocean Summit on June 8.
In addition to the government ministers, some of the other brightest minds in oceans policy from across the country and around the world will join in a full day of discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing our oceans, to ensure they remain healthy for the benefit of future generations. Panel sessions will be dedicated to exploring key issues in marine planning, achieving adequate protection, integrating community and stakeholder voices, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The one-day WWF-Canada event will also feature a keynote address by Sheila Watt-Cloutier, author of The Right to be Cold: One Woman's Story of Protecting Her Culture, the Arctic and the Whole Planet, and a special presentation by National Geographic explorer-in-residence Enric Sala.
