TORONTO, May 1, 2020 /CNW/ - Foodora couriers are currently staging a safe, physically distanced protest at the headquarters of Foodora Canada.
WHERE: |
579 Richmond Street West (Bathurst), Toronto |
WHEN: |
Now until 3:40 PM Eastern Time |
WHY: |
Earlier this week, Foodora abruptly announced that it would be exiting the Canadian market. |
Foodora couriers, facing grave economic uncertainty, are demanding that Delivery Hero reverse this decision and invest in workers, at a time when the market is growing worldwide and their revenues are surging. |
|
The couriers are also highlighting the urgency for provincial and federal governments to legislate real protections for gig economy workers. Workers in this growing sector have been vulnerable to exploitation for too long. |
|
Today is May Day and marks one year since Foodsters United and CUPW publicly launched the Justice for Foodora Couriers Campaign. Today they will continue to fight for the respect and dignity of all workers! |
