Media Advisory - OECD PISA 2022 REPORT WITH EMPHASIS ON MATHEMATICS SET FOR RELEASE ON DECEMBER 5, 2023 Français
TORONTO, Nov. 23, 2023 /CNW/ - On December 5, 2023, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will be releasing the results from the 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA 2022).
PISA conducts a survey every three years, evaluating the knowledge and abilities of 15-year-olds as they approach the end of their compulsory education. The primary assessed domain of PISA 2022 was mathematics, with reading and science as minor domains. This assessment encompassed 81 countries and economies, engaging 5,000 to 10,000 students from at least 150 schools in each nation. In Canada, an impressive number of more than 23,000 students from over 800 schools across all 10 provinces participated.
A companion Canadian report will be released at the same time as the OECD report to provide further information on the performance of Canadian students.
Of particular interest to media:
- The assessment is administered once every three years. This regular assessment interval makes it possible to compare student performance over time. PISA 2022 will provide significant information about how well students have been performing in mathematics, reading, and science.
- The Canadian report provides information on student performance at the provincial level and provides comparative results among Canadian provinces and other countries and economies. It also provides performance results for English- and French-language systems and by gender. Additionally, it offers a comprehensive analysis of the correlation between specific variables, such as sociodemographic characteristics and students' beliefs and values, and their performance in mathematics.
