OTTAWA, March 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Canada's media must remain diligent in pursuit of the truth behind the robocall election manipulation scandal, says Canada's national media union.
"Canadians are depending on our media as Canada's watchdog on democracy to bark loudly," says Peter Murdoch, Vice-President Media for the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada.
"This is not a story Canada can afford to have die on a newscycle," says Murdoch. "No matter who is responsible, the manipulation of our electoral system is a matter of national security. Sadly, Elections Canada have all but uttered a whimper."
Murdoch is calling on all Canadians who experienced irregularities to contact their local or national media with information.
"Canadians have a right to hear the who, what, when and where of this shocking story. We cannot afford to leave it to a bureaucratic investigation. The track record is pitiful."
