OTTAWA, March 8, 2017 /CNW/ - Canadian women play a vital role in every aspect of our society, yet all too often, they continue to be underrepresented and undervalued.
International Women's Day is an opportunity to highlight the progress that has been made toward achieving gender equality while underscoring the fact that there is still much to be done before women worldwide can achieve the equality they seek. Every day, women demonstrate their determination, courage and solidarity, continually pushing back against the limits imposed upon them simply because of their gender. However, if the aim of true equality is to be attained, we must collectively redouble our efforts.
On this March 8, Sharon and I invite you to reflect on how we can all make Canadian society more just and more equitable for women and to celebrate the women who have achieved extraordinary things.
