Microsoft Canada recognized as the most attractive employer brand according to Randstad Canada's most recent employer brand research Français
Research also reveals that money alone won't cut it with younger generations of workers
TORONTO, May 15, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - For the second year in a row, Microsoft Canada has been recognized as the most attractive employer brand in the country, according to Randstad Canada's 2018 employer brand research. The top employer brands were determined through an impartial survey conducted by Randstad Employer Brand Research (REBR). Participants in the REBR survey ranked companies based on 10 key factors including salary and benefits, job security and job content. Here are the top 5 employer brands in Canada for 2018:
Top employers 2018
1. Microsoft Canada
2. CAE Inc.
3. Pratt & Whitney Canada
4. Canadian Solar Inc.
5. Air Canada
"This impressive list of strong and admired organizations paints a very telling picture: how important building a strong employer brand is when you want to attract much sought-after talent, especially in the STEM fields. These organizations have successfully developed a compelling value proposition that resonates with Canadian job seekers, especially the younger ones. At Randstad Canada, we are very passionate about our role in supporting organizations in their efforts to develop an authentic employer brand - one that will contribute to strengthening their talent acquisition strategies,'' said Marc-Étienne Julien, CEO, Randstad Canada.
Attracting the new generation of workers: money alone is not enough
The research also provides interesting insights on key attraction and retention factors for Canadian workers and job seekers. Although salary and compensation remains the most important criteria when choosing a potential employer for all respondents combined, other factors come into play for the younger generations. Salary and benefits scored 65% for age group 25-44 as opposed to 55% for the 18-24 age group. Good training (40% vs 25% for 25-44), giving back to society ( 19% vs 14% for 25-44) and diversity and inclusion (24% vs 15% for 25-44) are more important to the younger generation than other age groups. According to the research, 44% of the workforce aged 18-24 is more likely to leave the workforce over 24 due to lack of interest in their job. Microsoft, Canadian Solar and Pratt and Whitney all scored the highest when it comes to offering interesting job content. The top 3 companies scored high on factors that are key to the younger generation: career progression (Microsoft), giving back to society (Canadian Solar), and use of the latest in technology(Microsoft and Canadian Solar).
