TORONTO, Nov. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, congratulated participants attending the 2012 WEConnect Canada National Conference, being held in Toronto, November 12 and 13, 2012, under the theme "Opening Doors."
"As Canada continues to power forward economically, we need the vision, talent and innovation of women entrepreneurs to lead the way and inspire others," said Minister Ambrose. "On the occasion of WEConnect Canada's annual conference, I send my best wishes for a productive and memorable gathering."
WEConnect Canada is a non-profit organization led by corporate members. It certifies firms that are at least 51 per cent woman-owned, managed and controlled, connecting them with the growing global demand from corporations and the public sector for diverse, innovative suppliers.
Since 2007, through the Women's Program of Status of Women Canada, more than $16.5 million in funding has been approved for projects that promote women's leadership and democratic participation.
