LONDON, England, Sept. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, joined public and private sector leaders from Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands and France, today, at the Multinational Symposium on Veteran Transition hosted by Canada's True Patriot Love Foundation.
"Our Government understands the importance and the challenges Veterans can face in making a successful transition from military to civilian life," said Minister Fantino. "This forum provides an important opportunity to work together with other nations and to learn from each other so that we may support Veterans and their families through this important time."
The Symposium is hosted by the True Patriot Love Foundation, a citizen-led Canadian foundation that supports and honours members of the Canadian military and their families. It is a two-day event that serves as a launching point for a multinational dialogue to address Veteran transition issues faced by all nations.
"We will continue to reach out to engage, consult and collaborate with Veterans and national and international stakeholders who share our goals of helping Veterans transition and helping Veterans find meaningful secondary careers following their service," said Minister Fantino. "Helping Veterans transition to civilian life is a goal we all share, and is a priority each of our countries and organizations is proud to be examining and working to improve."
This symposium builds on the True Patriot Love Foundation's successful 2012 Tri-National Symposium held in Washington, D.C., that addressed common and diverse military mental health issues and challenges faced by all nations.
