OTTAWA, May 13, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, today took the opportunity to wish mothers across Canada a very happy Mother's Day.
"As Minister for Status of Women, I would like to wish mothers across Canada a happy Mother's Day," said Minister Ambrose. "I am sure I am not alone when I say that my own mother was the most influential woman in my life. Mother's Day is an important occasion to celebrate the strength and guidance of the women who play a critical role in the lives of families and communities across Canada."
The Government of Canada is committed to assisting families and communities and recognizes the importance of supporting mothers both at home and abroad. In Canada, mothers' roles are as diverse as the country itself. Some are their family's principal caregivers while others combine careers in business, the arts, health care and education with volunteer roles in their communities. More and more, mothers are also choosing non-traditional occupations such as engineering, science, technology and the trades.
