SAINT-EUSTACHE, QC, Sept. 15, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, accompanied by Senator Claude Carignan, today announced funding for the Corporation du moulin Légaré in support of the 28th Festival de la galette et des saveurs du terroir. This festival, being held on September 14 and 15 in Saint-Eustache, offers a variety of activities for enthusiasts of agri-food products, history and culture.
"The Festival de la galette et des saveurs du terroir, a must-see event in the Laurentian region, promotes the vitality of communities in this part of the country," said Minister Glover. "Our Government is pleased to support events like this, because they bring people together and help strengthen both our cultural scene and our economy."
"I am pleased to announce our Government's support of this popular celebration, which every year presents a host of activities to delight residents and visitors to the region," said Senator Carignan. "The Festival de la galette et des saveurs du terroir also provides a showcase for local artists and craftspeople, while inviting the entire community to share and celebrate its cultural heritage."
"With support from the federal government, the Festival de la galette et des saveurs du terroir, organized annually by the Corporation du moulin Légaré in close collaboration with other cultural organizations and the City of Saint-Eustache, has grown dramatically over the last few years," said Michel Goyer, President of the Corporation du moulin Légaré. "The main purpose of this event is to highlight and celebrate the cultural and heritage character of Vieux-Saint-Eustache and to spread the word about its importance to our community."
The Government of Canada has provided total funding of $35,200 through the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
