OTTAWA, April 16, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, congratulated Porter FBO Limited and the National Organized Workers union on ratifying their first collective agreement for facilities cleaners and maintenance attendants at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre Airport.
"I am pleased that Porter and the union have reached a collective agreement and established a positive working relationship," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit the economic prosperity and security of Canadians."
Certified by the Canada Industrial Relations Board on November 15, 2012, the National Organized Workers union represents over 40 full-time and part-time employees working as facilities maintenance attendants, facilities cleaners and lead facilities cleaners.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
