OTTAWA, March 13, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, today announced the reappointment of Daniel Charbonneau to the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) for a three-year term, effective March 29, 2013.
"I am pleased that Mr. Charbonneau has agreed to remain on the Canada Industrial Relations Board," said Minister Raitt. "His knowledge and personal labour relations experience will continue to benefit the Board."
Mr. Charbonneau has been a full-time member of the Canada Industrial Relations Board, serving as an employee representative, since 1999. Before joining the Board, he served as a union advisor and union committee member.
The Canada Industrial Relations Board is an independent, representational, quasi-judicial tribunal responsible for the interpretation and administration of Part I (Industrial Relations) and certain provisions of Part II (Occupational Health and Safety) of the Canada Labour Code. The Board's expertise and composition allow it to deal effectively with the complexities of labour relations issues, to determine the underlying causes of disputes, and to facilitate agreement among the parties.
