Moment Factory and the National Theatre School of Canada collaborate for the first time on a training workshop, August 27 to 31, 2012 Français
MONTREAL, Aug. 23, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Back to school at the National Theatre School will start with a bang for 2013 graduating students of NTS's French and English Production programs and 2nd year Set and Costume Design program students. From August 27 to 31, 24 students will begin their first week of studies at the celebrated multimedia studios of Montreal's Moment Factory, where they will partake in an intensive 5-day creative arc of practical and theoretical workshops. They will touch upon the management and use of images as well as video integration. This is a first collaboration between the NTS and Moment Factory.
For the NTS, these workshops will permit Production and Set and Costume Design students, trained as creative collaborators and not technicians, to work outside of the box. They will be given the unique opportunity to devise new scenic design possibilities for the performing arts, as yet unexplored at the School.
For Moment Factory, these workshops are a privileged moment of sharing their knowledge and specific skills with the design teams of the future, as well as entertaining the eventuality of recruiting new talent. Students will learn the fundamentals of architectural mapping, immersive and interactive atmospheres used not only for staged performances but also for urban spaces. They will also test the latest lighting equipment and control systems.
The week will end with a presentation of our students' projects to the artists and staff of Moment Factory and the NTS.
MEDIA CALL: Images of NTS students at work can be taken at Moment Factory, preferably on either Thursday, August 30 or Friday, August 31.
