The company kicks-off Canada Soccer partnership with an interactive app and limited edition packaging
MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 5, 2015 /CNW/ - This summer, as our country welcomes soccer fans from around the world, Canada Soccer and Mondelēz Canada – whose brands include Chips Ahoy!, RITZ, Stride, Maynards, belVita and Mr. Christie's – announce a new multi-year partnership that celebrates Canada's National Teams and supports grassroots soccer in communities coast-to-coast.
In 2014, Mondelēz Canada first celebrated our collective national pride for our athletes through its partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and the launch of its Pride & Joy campaign. Building on that momentum, Pride & Joy is launching today with the support of Emily Zurrer and Rhian Wilkinson, members of Canada's Women's National Teams, to encourage Canadians to show pride for our national athletes while giving joy to youth soccer.
"Mondelēz Canada has an established history in supporting Canadian athletes and, as an official supporter of the Canadian Women's National Team, we're thrilled to join our nation in cheering them on as they compete on the world soccer stage," said Mackenzie Davison, Director, Instore Activation and Media, Mondelēz Canada. "Although they're top athletes now, they also just started out by playing recreationally and having fun. We recognize that team sports can have a lasting, positive impact on Canada's youth and communities, and that's why we've created a program that provides much needed funds to soccer clubs across the country, inspiring pride and joy in all youth who participate."
The Pride & Joy campaign includes two limited-edition Christie packages and an interactive app that will help raise funds for Canadian youth soccer clubs.
- Pride & Joy packaging: Chips Ahoy! and RITZ Crackers will feature limited edition packaging celebrating youth soccer in Canada.
- The Pride & Joy Cheer app: Simply by shaking the Pride & Joy Cheer App whenever the Canadian Women's National Team plays, funds will be raised for selected clubs across Canada. The more you cheer, the more funds are raised, with a total of up to $5,000 per club.
Working in partnership with Canada Soccer, Mondelēz Canada will provide up to $100,000 in donations, which will help build access to soccer for future generations.
"We're excited to partner with Mondelēz on an innovative campaign that will support Canada's National Teams while driving tangible resources to the grassroots levels of our sport," said Peter Montopoli, Canada Soccer General Secretary. "Mondelēz Canada's support is key for the continued development of our sport, from grassroots to National Teams, and we look forward to continuing to grow the beautiful game in our country through this new partnership."
