Canadian physiotherapy professionals
concerned by the opioid crisis
MONTREAL, Oct. 30, 2018 /CNW/ - From November 1 to 3, Montreal will host the most important Canadian physiotherapy event. The Montreal18 Congress organized jointly by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, the Association québécoise de la physiothérapie, and the Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec will bring together close to 1,000 physiotherapy professionals, including experts from Quebec and across the country. The opioid crisis and innovation in physiotherapy are among the many topics to be addressed during this exceptional gathering.
Challenges and issues of the opioid crisis
With an overdose death rate of almost 9 people per 100,000 – 3 times that of Australia and 9 times that of Europe – this North American problem has become a public health issue. Nearly half of all opioid overdose deaths involve prescription opioids. A panel of four invited experts will discuss the essential role of physiotherapy professionals who present themselves as one of the solutions to this crisis.
And much more!
Access to physiotherapy services, emerging practices and the latest scientific findings in physiotherapy will be on the agenda of hundreds of activities offered during the Congress (lectures, sessions and workshops).
The Montreal18 Congress will close with an address by Emma Stokes, President of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy and Deputy Head of the Department of Physiotherapy at Trinity College, Dublin.
