Enhanced mobile app opens up EAP support to users around the globe.
TORONTO, April 25, 2012 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell, under the Shepell•fgi Employee Assistance Program (EAP), today released My EAP version 2.0. With previous versions offered only in Canada, My EAP version 2.0 includes expert health and wellness articles, videos, and new interactive tools which are all now available on a global basis.
New features and improved functionality allow users to:
- contact EAP support toll-free, anytime, anywhere worldwide;
- register for E-Counselling directly through the app (Canada and US), instead of through a computer;
- determine their stress levels via a new tool called My Stress Index; and
- evaluate their relationship using a new tool called My Relationship Meter.
"Thus far, the most viewed items on the app have been articles and videos related to stress," says Barb Veder, Clinical Director, Morneau Shepell. "Therefore, we built a more robust version with tools geared to satisfy these needs. Providing mental health support on issues such as stress, depression and anxiety are also aligned with our organization's commitment to raising awareness around mental health, and enhancing access to appropriate channels of support."
According to Statistics Canada, in 2010, over one-quarter of Canadian working adults said their daily lives were highly stressful. However, without the proper assistance, high levels of stress due to personal, professional, medical, legal, or financial reasons will continue to rise and create a burden to both employers and Canada's health care system.
After users determine their level of stress, My Stress Index provides them with tips on how to manage their stress, as well as info on how to access EAP services that can assist.
The second most accessed issue for support was relationships, explains Veder. My Relationship Meter helps users determine the quality of their relationship and access supports that can educate them on topics such as communication and conflict resolution. Users are encouraged to seek support in changing their behaviour and attitudes with the help of EAP supports.
"Our EAP services serve over six million people and their family members, ensuring they get the care they need," says Rita Fridella, Senior Vice-President, Operations and Chief Clinician at Shepell•fgi. "We're excited to help even more people around the world who otherwise might not have access to such supports."
My EAP is the only EAP support available for mobile devices worldwide. It offers practical solutions and support for issues that impact users' work, health and life, and is free to download on Apple iPhone (3G and 4G), iPod Touch and iPad; RIM's Blackberry Bold, Curve, and Torch models; and Android devices.
