New service helps employees manage stressful life stages.
TORONTO, May 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell, under its Shepell•fgi brand, today announced a program that takes a preventative approach to improving employee health, career growth, and personal and professional success. Echo™ guides employees through important life events by proactively providing them with useful and relevant information, and resources from qualified experts.
"Employees want to feel appreciated and supported by their organization in times of personal challenge," said Stephen Liptrap, Executive Vice-President, Morneau Shepell and General Manager, Shepell•fgi . "This is even more important than compensation and opportunity. In our commitment to supporting each and every employee, we see that people need help addressing life changes before they actually become challenges."
The number of employees reaching out for support in times of need is low. According to the Conference Board of Canada, over half of all employees fear that disclosing personal issues and challenges will negatively affect their career advancement.
Echo kits contain information, tips, and resources targeted to specific events. These events, all causing stress, include becoming a new employee, going on maternity leave, returning to work after maternity leave, having teenage children, and turning 50 years old.
Also included in the kits is complimentary access to customized, online financial programs. These programs give employees financial information relevant to that life event with the ability to create a personalized financial plan. Kits are delivered confidentially to employees' homes.
Employees who feel supported by their organization are more likely to be more productive, loyal, and engaged as they no longer have to combat the negative impacts of life events (i.e., stress, distraction, reduced engagement, and absence from work).
Early adopter, TELUS Communications Inc., has taken a leadership role in improving the health and wellness of its employees. The organization was the first to sign on to the program. "Supporting the health and well-being of our team members is paramount. Echo is an innovative and creative approach to employee support delivery—key to reaching our highly dispersed employee population and providing them with just-in-time needed supports," said Janet Crowe, Director Wellness and Work Life Solutions.
Echo is available as an addition to existing Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) or as a stand-alone support program for organizations. Echo is a trademark of Morneau Shepell Ltd.
