OTTAWA, Nov. 25, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, Larry Miller, Member of Parliament for Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, attended a Transport Canada National Rail Safety Management System (SMS) and education and awareness programs workshop on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, to highlight his support for ongoing training within the department.
Designed for Transport Canada's railway safety inspectors, auditors, and awareness program officers, the national workshop reinforces the fundamental principles of Safety Management Systems, supports ongoing learning, and ensures a national approach to regulatory enforcement. The visit allowed Mr. Miller to engage first-hand with employees working to ensure a strong safety system.
