Coffee brand expands in Canada with the opening of two new Toronto-area boutiques
MONTREAL, Sept. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - Canadians can now enjoy the convenience of shopping for Nespresso coffee at more locations in Canada. Nespresso today unveiled its newest boutique at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the fourth store in the Toronto-area. Later this month, a fifth location will open at Sherway Gardens. The expansion of the brand in Canada is part of the company's strategy to grow its physical presence, gain greater market share and continue to offer high quality coffee to Canadians.
The 2,400 square foot Yorkdale Nespresso boutique features an outstanding and distinctive storefront and u-shape tasting space that is representative of the brand's dedication to innovative design. Both Yorkdale and Sherway boutiques were designed by Goring and Straja Studio in Italy, a studio that develops boutique concepts for Nespresso globally. Their concepts are based on delivering a unique and luxurious retail experience. Both of the new boutiques will offer customers a recycling collecting point where they can quickly and easily return their used coffee capsules.
"We are excited to open our new boutique in Yorkdale, one of the most popular luxury malls in Canada, and continue to deliver quality coffee at locations that are convenient for our customers," said Mr. Jean-Luc Valleix, President, Nespresso Canada. "Since we opened our first boutique in Canada in 2009, we've built a strong customer base and have been welcomed by coffee lovers across the country. We look forward to expanding our offering and building a stronger connection to our brand."
Coffee is the most popular beverage of choice for Canadians and the rise of at-home coffee consumption due to the popularity of single serve coffee has made Canada a priority market for Nespresso. It is estimated that nearly one third of Canadian households now have single-cup brew machines.* The single-serve coffee cup category is estimated to be worth $750 million with an annual growth rate of 25 per cent.**
Following the opening of the brand's Montreal flagship in 2009 and the Toronto flagship store in 2013, the Swiss company set its sights on expansion in Canada and these stores are the latest indication of continued growth and commitment in the Canadian market. Nespresso now has 15 boutiques across the country including 2 Boutique Bars, 5 Boutiques in Malls and 8 Boutiques in existing Hudson's Bay stores as part of their exclusive partnership. An expansion into Western Canada, particularly Vancouver, and sustained growth in Quebec is currently underway with plans to open new boutique locations in 2016.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to connect with customers and bring a personalized coffee experience to more people, Nespresso has also recently expanded in Canada through the opening of temporary Pop-Up boutiques. Starting in November 2014 at the Fairview Pointe Claire shopping centre in Montreal, the mobile Nespresso Pop-Up boutique has been travelling across the country, visiting Quebec's Place St-Foy and Toronto's Eaton Centre. The next stop is scheduled to open Saturday, September 5th at the Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket, Ontario.
The company's success is based on the creation of premium, high-quality single-serve coffee products such as their Grand Cru coffees and easy-to-use, elegantly designed machines. Nespresso has developed a devoted customer base with a strong brand affinity for their products and are internationally known as a pioneer in high quality portioned coffee amidst an increasingly competitive marketplace.
