Youth centre benefits from CIP 150 funding
CAMBRIDGE BAY, NU, May 31, 2018 /CNW/ - Over the last two years the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) provided support throughout Nunavut for renovations and upgrades to community infrastructure including arenas and community centres. The final Nunavut-based project to be announced has over $120,000 invested in renovations to the Cambridge Bay Youth Centre.
The funding was announced today by the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and the Minister responsible for CanNor.
The Cambridge Bay Youth Centre benefitted from needed improvements, including insulated and energy efficient windows, kitchen updates, new furniture, along with upgrades to the water, sewage, and fuel tanks. The Centre is an important part of the community providing youth with a structured environment and offering support programs for personal development and guidance.

- This investment was part of the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, a $300-million fund established to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday through investments in community spaces that bring Canadians together. Of that amount, up to $12.8 million was invested across the three territories. The program has now concluded.
- CanNor invested $120,150 for improvements to the Cambridge Bay Youth Centre. The Hamlet contributed an additional $40,050 for a total investment of $160,200.
