A national Advisory Committee is created and will steer the relaunch plan.
MONTREAL, May 22, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - A wind of change is blowing through The Canadian Home Furnishings Market, and a national Advisory Committee will be steering the plan for its relaunch. The Committee is composed of professionals from the areas of manufacturing, importing and furniture sales, as well as trade shows, among others. Committee members are also from various regions across Canada.
Mr. Pierre Richard, the President and CEO of TCHFM and the Quebec Furniture Manufacturers' Association (QFMA), will chair the Committee. "As the owner and producer of TCHFM, the QFMA needs to promote the success of the only Canadian furniture show," stated Mr. Richard. "Moreover, the industry, which has clearly expressed its desire to maintain the Show, is calling for some major changes, and these changes are required for the relaunch of the event. To achieve this goal, we have created a national Advisory Committee, and in selecting its members, we have strived to ensure that it is representative of the Canadian industry. The selected members have considerable experience and are highly regarded. We are honored that they are working with us on the event's relaunch, which will be set in motion before the end of June, at the Committee's first meeting."
TCHFM national Advisory Committee members include:
Steve Braniff, Director, The Dufresne Group, Cambridge, Ontario
Al-Karim Chatur, President, Eztia, Mississauga, Ontario
Jean Favreau, Senior Vice-President, Furniture, Appliance and Bedding, Cantrex, St-Laurent, Québec
Ralph Gerstl, President, Sleepking Crown Design, Toronto, Ontario
Linda Kafka, Director of Marketing, SOFA, Mississauga, Ontario
Dany Lester, Chief Financial Officer, International Centre, Mississauga, Ontario
Derrik Middleton, National Sales Manager, Woodworks, Abbotsford, British Columbia
Dennis Novosel, President, Stoney Creek Furniture, Stoney Creek, Ontario
Réjean Poitras, President, Amisco, L'Islet, Québec
John Power, National Sales Manager for Canada, Palliser, Toronto, Ontario
Laine Reynolds, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Superstyle Furniture, Woodbridge, Ontario
Benoit Simard, President and CEO, Mega Group, Boucherville, Québec
Alykhan Sunderji, Vice-President, Park Avenue Furniture, Calgary, Alberta
Murray Vaughan, President, CHFA, Mississauga, Ontario
In line with the efforts aimed at the Show's relaunch, a major change was announced last March to move the dates from the event's traditional January timeframe to June 4 to 7, 2015. While the Show's difficulties could be partly attributed to the fact that it was previously held in the wintertime, the warmer June weather will assuredly be a factor in its success. But the date change was also required because the Las Vegas Market is being moved up a week in January 2015, which brings it even closer to TCHFM. The industry was very supportive of the decision to change the dates of the Show.
The Canadian Home Furnishings Market has been in existence since 1972 and is held annually in Toronto. The only national furniture show in the country, TCHFM is a showcase for Canadian know-how, bringing together industry professionals, manufacturers, retailers, designers, decorators, as well as Canadian, American, and international representatives and suppliers. The Show is where buying decisions are made for the entire Canadian furniture industry. For more information on TCHFM, please visit www.tchfm.com.
