MONTREAL, April 5, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Noveko International Inc. (TSX: EKO) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that its Noveko Filtration Division (Epurair Inc.) has won a contract to supply the STM with Noveko® filters worth up to $352,000. The award of a three-year contract was confirmed by the STM's Board of Directors yesterday evening, following a first public call for tenders for the rental of cleanable and recyclable air filters for the STM's buildings. The filters will equip the ventilation systems of the transportation centres and metro stations and will gradually be delivered according to the STM's needs.
It is to be pointed out that subsequent to a period of conclusive tests, two first agreements had been signed in May 2011 covering the supply of Noveko® cleanable and recyclable filters for the transportation centres.
"We are very proud we were officially selected as filtration solutions provider for the STM following a call for tenders process launched last November. We are also pleased to consolidate our partnership with this leader in the mass transit industry, rewarded on many occasions for its green initiatives. The award of this contract represents an additional acknowledgment of the numerous benefits arising from the use of Noveko® filters, which combine efficiency, eco-friendliness and savings, thanks notably to our patented air filtration technologies. Our filtration solutions continue to gain ground as their distinctive features are increasingly valued by the real estate and transportation markets," indicated Mr. Simon Labrecque, Vice-President, Filtration, Noveko.
"Sustainable development is one of the priorities of our 2020 Strategic Plan and we have taken several initiatives to enhance our standing in this regard by reducing our ecological footprint. It is with this in mind that we sought an innovative filtration solution. Noveko® cleanable and recyclable filters meet all our requirements in this regard. In light of their proven longer life and the fact that they are cleanable and recyclable at the end of their life cycle, we can significantly reduce our residual materials. We will also save on the labour related to their replacement and elimination. What's more, they are energy-efficient," added Ms. Odile Paradis, Senior Manager, Public Affairs of the STM.

About Noveko® Filtration Solutions
The filters incorporating Noveko's patented technologies consist of multiple layers of synthetic fibre built into a rigid aluminum framework, making them perfectly leak-proof and resistant to variations in temperature and humidity. The filtering membrane entering into the manufacture of the Noveko® filters incorporates a patented three-dimensional weaving technology offering less resistance to air and thereby requiring less power from ventilation systems engines. This superior filtration effectiveness enables users to achieve energy savings. Their increased durability, combined with the fact that they are cleanable and recyclable, significantly reduces the number of filters used and the costs associated with their replacement and the elimination of waste, making them an ideal eco-friendly solution. It is notably the incorporation of antimicrobial agents into the filter fibres, thanks to Noveko's patented antimicrobial filtration technology, that protects the filters against deterioration due to the action of microorganisms and accounts for their cleanability and durability.
