MONTREAL, May 17, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Biogénie, a division of EnGlobe Corp., global leader in organic waste management, as well as contaminated site assessment and remediation, unveils today a new model that radically transforms green and food waste management by providing municipalities and the agri-food industry with an adaptable, odor-free solution to organic waste disposal.
Named "BG BoxTM", this made-in-Québec breakthrough enables compost and biofuel production in an urban setting. This technology boasts unique technologies, namely excellent odor control, an 80% reduction in organic waste processing time, remote data monitoring, as well as the stabilization and drastic reduction of pathogens, all in a modular, closed-off and compact system that adapts to any volume.
"After several years of development, Biogénie is extremely proud to announce the launch of BG BoxTM, a technology perfectly adapted to urban living that solves the organic waste management issue at the ecological, economic and energy level across the world's cities and municipalities, said André Héroux, President and CEO of EnGlobe. We're offering an innovative alternative to automatic burial and a new option for decision-makers that addresses their citizens' concerns."
Each BG BoxTM unit, comparable to a conventional container, comes in a modern design that easily blends into its urban environment and enables the processing of over 8,000 tons of organic waste per year into top-quality fertilizer (compost and humus. BG BoxTM also enables urban biomass to be converted into biofuel to help meet local heat and energy needs.
"BG BoxTM boasts unique technological features, explained Mr. Christian Bélanger, Vice-President of Innovation and Development. At last, a practical solution to the "not in my backyard" attitude. By revisiting organic waste composting methods in an urban setting, BG BoxTM provides the industry with the effective technological solution it needed." The technology we are introducing surpasses anything currently on the market. It is now possible to locally manage waste produced by the citizens of a given community, while promoting BG BoxTM products within said community.
BG BoxTM processes nearly all green and food waste, including meats, fish, dairy products, paper waste, agri-food industry waste, municipal and industrial biosolids, as well as restaurant, cafeteria and public market waste.
Key target clients are municipalities, RCMs, agencies offering green and food waste collection services, treatment plants, as well as companies that produce organic waste and industrial organic sludge.
BG BoxTM was created as a joint initiative with Sherbrooke-based company Mécanec. All of its components are made in Québec and the system runs year-round. BG Box'sTM operational costs are lower than conventional burial processes, and its proximity to users and citizens considerably reduces waste transportation costs.
BG BoxTM: a noiseless, odorless initiative coming soon to your community.
