Chris Power has passion, experience and leadership in safe healthcare
EDMONTON, Dec. 17, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) is pleased to announce that Chris Power has been recruited as the new CEO by the Board of Directors.
Recognized across Canada as a respected leader and passionate advocate of patient safety and quality improvement, Chris has been working diligently to create a culture of patient safety for the past eight years in her role as President and CEO of the Capital Health in Nova Scotia.
"In addition to a wealth of experience leading in the Canadian healthcare system, Chris also brings an outstanding level of passion and expertise in patient safety to our organization," says Susan Mumme, Board Chair of CPSI. "On behalf of everyone at CPSI, I'd like to welcome Chris to her role as CEO."
Chris holds significant governance roles including Co-Chair of HealthCareCAN, Chair of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Governing Council, and Board Member of Canadian Association for Health Services and Policy Research,
Under Chris's leadership the Canadian Patient Safety Institute will continue to advance the four areas of focus including infection prevention control, medication safety, surgical safety and home care. Chris has significant insight into healthcare from the policy, operational and front line perspective.
Most recently Chris participated as a member of the federal advisory panel on healthcare innovation and through this role has gained even greater insight into the many pan-Canadian organizations that will be beneficial in forming partnerships, leveraging expertise and advancing the goals of CPSI.
