OPP Commissioner Receives Order of Merit Award

Chris D. Lewis Elevated to Commander within the Order of Merit of the Police Forces

ORILLIA, ON, Oct. 4, 2013 /CNW/ -   In a ceremony being held today at the Residence of the Governor General at La Citadelle de Québec, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Commissioner Chris Lewis will be elevated to the rank of Commander (C.O.M.) within the Order of Merit of the Police Forces by the Governor General of Canada.

The C.O.M. recognizes outstanding meritorious service and demonstrated leadership in duties of great responsibility over an extended period, usually at the national or international level.  Commissioner Lewis becomes the first Canadian police leader to be elevated through all three levels of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.
