Public service announcement - 5 ASG Public Affairs - Military equipment to be transported along Notre Dame Street East in Montreal Français
MONTREAL, Feb. 5, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Forces (CF) will be transporting military equipment on and near Notre Dame Street East in Montreal, between Bossuet Street and the entrance to Longue-Pointe Garrison, from February 6 to 10, 2012.
This transportation operation is required in order to move numerous containers and various types of military vehicles between the Port of Montreal and Longue-Pointe Garrison.
The CF has taken all the necessary steps to reduce the impact on traffic and avoid inconveniencing people in the area:
- The transportation route will include only a short stretch of public road. Most of the route will be on Port of Montreal land.
- Movements of equipment will be scheduled around the normal flow of traffic so as not to interfere with busy periods.
- The military transport vehicles will travel in small groups so that they will be less likely to block traffic.
- We are working closely with the municipal authorities at the Port of Montreal and with the Montreal police to make sure that our equipment is moved as efficiently as possible.
The last few times we transported military equipment in the area, the measures taken to reduce any impact or inconvenience were effective. There was almost no disruption of local traffic, and the operations were completed without any problems.
