MONTREAL, Oct. 22, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Sobeys Québec cordially invites the media to the first edition of its food forum to be held on October 28 at the Montreal Palais des congrès. Their objective is to convince 400 of its suppliers to take action and encourage Quebecers to eat healthier, buy local, and cook more.
Participants will be able to weigh in on current issues and food trends in the food industry and hear from public health experts like:
- Dr. Mélanie Henderson, Pediatric endocrinologist at Sainte-Justine Hospital, who will discuss the impact of obesity on children.
- Sophie De Reynal from NutriMarketing in France, who will talk about ten healthy eating trends to follow.
- Youri Rivest from CROP, who will compare Quebecers' eating habits with those of Canadians and Americans.
In addition, inspiring suppliers and distributors from within and outside of Canada will share their recent experiences helping consumers to eat better:
- Florence Renard, Nutrition Project Manager for French distributor Casino, who will talk about what motivates her company's commitment to nutritional progress.
- Jennifer Carkner, Senior Brand Manager for Kashi, who will present Kashi's company values and its successful integration into the Kellogg group.
- Pam Kellogg, Vice President of Marketing and Innovation for Maple Leaf, who will address her brand's evolution toward more natural products.
An initiative to inspire others
You no doubt remember that this past April, Sobeys Québec set its sights on "The Joy of Eating Better," an approach that underpins all of its business practices. Claude Tessier, President, and Yves Laverdière, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Sobeys Québec, will be there to talk about this new vision and explain how suppliers can play an integral role. Finally, Marc Poulin, President of Sobeys Inc. will discuss how The Joy of Eating Better applies in the rest of Canada.
