MONTRÉAL, July 14, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Week-ends du monde at Parc Jean-Drapeau, presented by Loto-Québec, an event celebrating cultural diversity through music, dance and culinary discoveries, ended yesterday under the rain with the live telecast of the FIFA World Cup final, the Brazilian Carnival, and unmistakable evidence of the overwhelming response to the invitation issued by the organizers and the 55 communities that participated. The free event attracted a record 173,361 vistors.
The Société du parc Jean-Drapeau, which produces the event, issued a positive report, despite the rainfall, on this year's edition of Week-ends du monde. "For the 10th anniversary of the event, we wanted to present a diversified program and several new features, including the show by Karim Ouellet and the live telecast of the FIFA World Cup final," stated Société du parc Jean-Drapeau spokesperson François Cartier. "Unfortunately, the weather did not help yesterday, as last year, we welcomed 209,000 people, including 63,000 in the last day, compared with 12,000 people only yesterday."
