WINNIPEG, Dec. 18, 2012 /CNW/ - On August 1, 2013, changes to sprouted tolerances in Canada Western Amber Durum wheat take effect, the Canadian Grain Commission announced.
Currently the sprouted tolerances for Canada Western Amber Durum are as follows:

At its meeting on November 8, 2012, the Western Standards Committee recommended the following sprouted tolerances, effective August 1, 2013:

Canadian Grain Commission research showed that the tolerances for severely sprouted could be relaxed in No. 1 and No. 2 durum without affecting end-use quality. As well, research showed that a severely sprouted tolerance should be added to No. 3 durum and the tolerance for total damage in No. 3 durum should be tightened to maintain quality integrity. These changes would have minimal effect on producer deliveries as most deliveries of No. 3 Canada Western Amber Durum are already within the recommended tolerance.
