OTTAWA, June 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Scouts Canada and Hot Wheels®, today announced a unique new partnership; joining together to inspire young children and youth to challenge their imaginations with a formula that blends creativity, tactile skills and personal accomplishment.
The two-year partnership brings a cool and exciting new component to Scouts Canada's immensely popular Kub Kars and Beaver Buggies, while maintaining the core values, spirit and integrity of the traditional programs. Collectively, they encourage young boys and girls to explore their passion for adventure and discovery in an environment that promotes creativity, confidence and learning.
"We're thrilled to partner with Scouts Canada on new adventures and experiences that foster confidence and leadership skills among its national members," said Melissa Chau, Brand Manager, Hot Wheels. "Together, we look forward to encouraging active play, cooperation and leadership skills and we're hopeful that we will inspire Kub Kar and Beaver Buggy rallies with the Hot Wheels model for success, built not only on speed, competition and performance, but also on creativity and one's imagination."
Part of the partnership includes the creation of a 'Hot Wheels® Kub Kar Rally Kit', which will be available in time for next year's area rallies. The kit will include giveaways and promotional items to help enhance the event. Downloadable resource materials such as posters, building and decorating tips, and thank you certificates will also be available for Kub Kar and Beaver Buggy Programs.
"Our goal is to bring a new dimension to the Kub Kar and Beaver Buggy programs by partnering with a brand that kids know and love, while continuing to foster creativity, confidence and learning among youth across Canada," said Steve Kent, Chief Commissioner and Chair of the Board of Governors of Scouts Canada. "We feel that partnering with Hot Wheels is a natural fit that will inspire our young members to challenge their imaginations."
Started in 1978, the Kub Kar program allows Cub Scouts (ages 8-10) to explore their creativity by designing and building their own Kars and, with the assistance of mentors, learn how to maximize Kar speed while meeting the design requirements. Through Kub Kar rallies, youth have the opportunity meet new friends, gain a sense of achievement and have fun as they race their Kars against youth from the Cub Scout Packs in the surrounding area. Building on the success of the Kub Kar program, Beaver Buggies were later introduced to provide Beaver Scouts (ages 5-7) with the opportunity to develop the same skills.
In addition to the Kub Kar and Beaver Buggy programs, Scouts Canada and Hot Wheels are working together on new and exciting contests and events, with the potential for the program to grow and evolve into a stronger partnership year after year.
Partner introductions and negotiations were handled by TrojanOne.
