Senator David Wells participates in opening of memorial garden honouring Second World War Veteran Français
ST. JOHN'S, July 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Senator David Wells, on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, participated today in the official opening of the Jim Shields Memorial Garden. The garden is located outside the Sir Winston Churchill Wing of the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion.
Designed as a therapeutic outdoor space, with walking paths and sitting areas, the garden enhances the daily lives of Veterans, especially those living with dementia. Within the garden, a memorial honours the men and women of Newfoundland and Labrador who have served, are currently serving, or will serve Canada in the future.
Over the years, our government has worked with the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion on significant expansions to ensure this impressive facility provides Veterans with the highest standard of care available.
