OTTAWA, Aug. 30, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is conducting a comprehensive study type environmental assessment of the proposed Sisson Project located in New Brunswick. The Agency invites the public to comment on the potential environmental effects of the project and the proposed measures to prevent or mitigate those effects as described in a summary of the proponent's Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report.
Northcliff Resources Ltd. is proposing to develop an open-pit mine for the purpose of extracting ore containing tungsten and molybdenum, approximately 60 kilometres northwest of Fredericton, New Brunswick. The mine would have a lifespan of 27 years and would extract an average of 30,000 tonnes of ore per day for on-site processing. The project would involve a conventional open-pit mine and associated processing, storage, waste treatment and disposal facilities, and a new 42-kilometre transmission line, running alongside an existing transmission line.
