Statement - Minister Goodale responds to the Annual Report of the Correctional Investigator 2015-2016 Français
OTTAWA, Oct. 31, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued the following statement:
"The Government of Canada welcomes the Correctional Investigator's 2015-2016 Annual Report.
Addressing the challenges facing the federal correctional system is a priority for this Government.
We are committed to ensuring that federal correctional institutions provide a safe and secure environment that is conducive to inmate rehabilitation, staff safety and the protection of the public. This includes appropriate support for offenders with mental health issues.
In keeping with my commitment to transparency and openness, I have released my official response to the Correctional Investigator's Annual Report 2015-2016.
I will continue to work with the Office of the Correctional Investigator, the Correctional Service of Canada, and provincial and territorial partners to ensure a federal correctional system that is fair, humane and effective."
