Statement - Minister of Transport congratulates Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) on reaching a major milestone related to the Gordie Howe International Bridge Français
OTTAWA, July 20, 2015 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, issued today this statement on the launch of the procurement process for the Gordie Howe International Bridge:
"I would like to congratulate the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority on reaching the most important milestone to date towards the completion of the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
"The issuance of the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is much more than the first stage in the procurement process to select a private sector partner for the new bridge. It also demonstrates how Canada is working to strengthen its economy for the future.
"The new Gordie Howe International Bridge will create jobs during its construction period and operation and will feed future economic growth on both sides of the border.
"The Government of Canada is committed to investing in infrastructure projects that focus on creating jobs and contributing to the long-term prosperity of communities across Canada."
