OTTAWA, Sept. 23, 2018 /CNW/ - The Honourable Seamus O'Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, issued the following statement today on the 11th annual Canada Army Run:
"In its 11th year, the Canada Army Run continues to inspire Canadians and members of the Canadian Armed Forces. It is an opportunity for Military members and civilians to come together in the spirit of community and camaraderie.
"2018 marks 75 years since the Battle of Ortona and to commemorate this important anniversary in our nation's history, the Ortona Challenge was added to this year's Canada Army Run. We are proud to have Canada Army Run join us in remembering and honouring those brave Canadians who served and sacrificed so much during this important battle in defense of our nation.
"For members of the Canadian Armed Forces, the Army Run gives them an opportunity to thank Canadians for their support. For civilians, it allows them to thank the men and women who serve our country in so many ways at home and abroad.
"This year as Army Run participants run, walk and roll across the finish line, we honour those who served and those who continue to serve Canada."
