OTTAWA, July 9, 2015 /CNW/ - The Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement today following a visit to the areas of Saskatchewan being impacted by wildfires, and meeting with impacted citizens.
"My thoughts are with those families and communities affected by the recent wildfires. The devastation that I have witnessed here is heartbreaking, but I am uplifted by the spirit of community and resilience they have demonstrated.
Our Government will continue to help Canadians recover from natural disasters. I have witnessed the incredible bravery of our firefighters, Canadian Armed Forces members, the Canadian Red Cross and other emergency responders as they come together to protect these communities under very difficult conditions. We are grateful to every one of them for their dedication and courage."
