OTTAWA, April 10, 2017 /CNW/ - At sunset this evening, families and friends will gather together to observe the beginning of Passover, one of the most important holidays in the Jewish calendar.
Passover is marked by the ceremonial Seder meal and the retelling of the powerful story of the Exodus of the Jewish people from slavery. Canadians of all backgrounds can find inspiration in this tale of hope as a call for justice and freedom from oppression.
Passover also provides an opportunity for Canadians to reflect on the many contributions that members of Canada's Jewish community have made to our society throughout history.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Multiculturalism, I extend my best wishes to all those observing Passover in Canada and around the world. Chag Pesach Sameach.
