OTTAWA, April 11, 2018 /CNW/ - Tonight at sunset, Jewish communities across Canada and around the world will pause to remember the six million Jewish men, women and children who perished during the Holocaust.
On the occasion of Yom HaShoah, let us draw inspiration from the strength, courage and resilience of those who suffered at the hands of the Nazis. Let us also honour the more than 40,000 Holocaust survivors who chose Canada as their new home, helping to shape our society.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Multiculturalism, I invite Canadians of all backgrounds and faiths to remember the millions of Jews who were persecuted and murdered during the Holocaust. We have a collective responsibility never to forget, and to ensure that such atrocities never happen again.
