Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Winners of the 2013 Tim Horton's Roar of the Rings Français
OTTAWA, Dec. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - As Minister of State (Sport), I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the victorious men and women curlers of the 2013 Tim Horton's Roar of the Rings in Winnipeg.
The men's team from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, led by skip Brad Jacobs and including third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden, lead Ryan Harnden, alternate Caleb Flaxey, and Coach Tom Coulterman, defeated Team Morris in the final. The women's team from Winnipeg, Manitoba, led by skip Jennifer Jones alongside third Kaitlyn Lawes, second Jill Officer, lead Dawn McEwen, alternate Kirsten Wall, and coach Janet Arnott, defeated Team Middaugh to claim the title.
Our athletes are an enormous source of pride for all Canadians. That is why our Government is proud to provide continued support to our athletes who will proudly represent our great nation.
As Minister of State (Sport), I wish all these athletes the very best as they prepare to compete on the biggest stage in the world of sport.
