Statement by the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, On the Report of the House of Commons Special Committee On Violence Against Indigenous Women Français
OTTAWA, March 7, 2014 /CNW/ - The Hon. Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, today issued the following statement after the House of Commons Special Committee on Violence Against Indigenous Women tabled its final report:
"Ending violence against all women and girls remains a priority for our Government. As a Government, we remain concerned about the high number of missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada, and the devastating impact these tragedies have on families and communities across our country.
I welcome today's report from the House of Commons Special Committee on Violence Against Indigenous Women. I want to thank the Members of Parliament, witnesses and participants for their contributions to this report. I will be reviewing and responding to its findings in a timely manner."
